John “Jack” Davis Stryker, age 87 of Hoschton, passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 9, 2025, surrounded by family.
Jack was born in Belle Mead, New Jersey on August 9, 1938 to the late Isaac B. Stryker & Jeannette Davis Stryker. He was a skilled carpenter and worked many years at Princeton University until his retirement. Jack also gave of his time as a volunteer firefighter for over 50 years, including serving as Chief of the Cranbury Volunteer Fire Company for 22 years.
Jack enjoyed fishing and car trips. Some of his favorite destinations were the Amish Country in Pennsylvania, the Jersey Shore and Dollywood. He loved seafood and taught everyone in the family the proper way to crack and eat crab legs. He was also known for preparing the perfect shrimp cocktail and sauce that will live on with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Geraldine Stryker; son & daughter-in-law, John & Amy Stryker Jr.; daughter, Patricia Occhipinti; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Lambardo and Janet Burns.
There will be a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jack’s honor to the Cranbury Volunteer Fire Company, 2 South Main Street, Cranbury, N.J. 08512.
