Ms. Johnetta Jackie Collins, age 56 of Oakwood, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026.
Johnetta was born on July 27, 1969 in Monrovia, Liberia. She spent some time in Firestone growing up and was very fond of her grandmother. She also lived with her Aunt Johnetta Hoff-Moore in the area called Keyhole on the Old Road where she attended the Amargashie School. She moved to Gaye Town, Old with her Aunt Johnetta in 1977. Johnetta graduated from the Assembly of God High School in Monrovia, Liberia in 1986.
Johnetta later moved to the United States and began working hard to make a life for herself. She worked with Mary Kay Cosmetics, gaining her customer service experience. She later took a role with Hagenmayer, North America, where she worked from 2003 to 2007. Johnetta then obtained a position at Zebra Technologies 2008 and worked with that entity until her passing.
Johnetta was a kind and loving person. She was always willing to help someone in any way she could. She believed that family did not have to be blood alone. She truly loved from her heart and was extremely generous. When we reached out to her when some of her old neighbors passed away from Gaye Town, she would always Zelle the largest contribution. She would then reminisce about Gaye Town and ask about all her older friends and neighbors.
Baby-girl, as we affectionately called her, would always remind us that we were her ‘smaller cousins’ and in public! She would say her peace on an issue and be done. She would call and explain a disagreement and explain how she called her other cousin spoke her mind. “… but I’m done with it,’ she would say. She will truly be missed.
Johnetta is survived by her mother, Comfort Blyden; brothers, Emmanuel, Johnny, Musa, and Alhaji; her aunts, Johnnetta & Nora Johnson; her uncle and aunt Hon. J. Rudolph and Justice Gladys Johnson; a host of cousins; her best friends turned sisters, Denise Brown & Hayat Najjar and a host of other family and friends in the U.S.A and Liberia.
We loved and will miss her but God knows best.
