Johnny Logan Crumley, born July 13, 1943, in Chicopee, Georgia, to Leonard and Evelyn Crumley, spent his early years exploring the woods and dirt trails near 2c Avenue in Chicopee Village and later Poplar Springs Road. He often shared fond memories of riding his bicycle through those trails, forming a lifelong love for the outdoors.
As an adult, Johnny dedicated 30 years of hard work to General Motors in Doraville. He always had stories to tell—from carpool rides to life on the assembly line—each one told with a sense of pride and humor that those around him will never forget.
On weekends, Johnny found his peace on the water. He would often bring his boat to work on Fridays and head straight to Port St. Joe, Florida, for a weekend of fishing. In his later years, he continued to enjoy this passion along the Texas coast during retirement.
Fall was a special time for Johnny, as he loved watching wildlife and sharing stories of deer sightings—from impressive antlers to the mothers and their fawns he observed from his back porch. His love for nature was a defining part of who he was.
In time, Johnny discovered a new passion in gold dredging, which he shared with his beloved wife, Sally. Together, they explored creeks and rivers across the country, from the East Coast to the West, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott Crumley, and his wife, Sally Crumley.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Kim) Crumley and Karen (Ron) Slizewski; his stepson, Scott (Ruth) Haberman; and his grandchildren, Sydney (Thomas) Erlinger, Logan (Brooke) Crumley, Hallie (Cole) Swims, Ronnie (Kelsi) Slizewski, Randi (Josh) Archer, Rachel Slizewski, Jesse Crumley, and Aubree Crumley. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Charlie and Erik Haberman.
Johnny leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, with another baby Crumley expected in May, as well as three step-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters, Marie Allen and Pat Seagraves, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved and cherished deeply.
Johnny will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, and the stories he shared with those closest to him. His legacy lives on through the family he built and the memories he created.
A private service will be held later.
