Juanita Elizabeth (Bennett) Garrett

Juanita Elizabeth Bennett Garrett, 82, of Chicopee, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville following an extended illness.

Born on November 3, 1940 in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Arlene Bennett of Chicopee. 

Juanita loved her people and they loved her.  She took care of her family and her neighbors.   She loved to travel with her husband and take lots of pictures.  She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and holidays, and especially enjoyed baking delicious birthday cakes for all of her favorite people.  She was a member of Chicopee Baptist Church who enjoyed serving the youth for several years in her younger days.  She was a kind and selfless servant, who never complained about her own worries.  Even through the last two years of cancer treatments, she showed no fear and faced every treatment with a positive attitude and always said God was in charge.  And she let Him handle it.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Maurice Garrett of Chicopee; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Russell Eagle, Wanda and Michael Pethel; grandchildren, Logan and Brady Pethel, Lyndsey and Taylor Lynn; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Dianne Bennett and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Rev. Phil Carpenter will officiate.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
