A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant, Judson “Jud” Kenneth Vaughn, age 92, of Hoschton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on April 24, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born on November 27, 1933, in Duncan, South Carolina, to the late Annie Ruth Vaughn, Jud’s life was defined by discipline, humility, and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including four years stationed at RAF Burtonwood in England during the Korean War.
Following his military service, Mr. Vaughn began a remarkable 60-year career with the United States Postal Service. For three decades, he walked a ten-mile route each day, faithfully delivering mail in all conditions, a powerful testament to his work ethic, reliability, and care for his community. He became a trusted advocate for his fellow letter carriers and, as an active member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, rose to serve as President of the South Carolina Association of Letter Carriers, earning widespread respect for his integrity and leadership.
Jud later served as an arbitrator across the Southeast, representing letter carriers in disciplinary cases. In this role, he became known for his firm commitment to justice and his deep belief in mercy, fairness, and redemption. He then spent years supplying uniforms to letter carriers, continuing to serve those he cared about so deeply.
While his career was distinguished, his faith most profoundly shaped his life. A devoted Christian, Mr. Vaughn taught Sunday School for more than 50 years, pouring into generations with patience, wisdom, and conviction. He was rarely found idle, often in his study with Bible open and pen in hand, preparing lessons and seeking deeper understanding of Scripture. His life reflected the love of Christ through kindness, humility, and a steadfast desire to guide others.
Above all, Jud was a family man. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Linda Eubanks Vaughn, with whom he shared sixty-nine years of partnership and faith. He was a proud father to his son, Kenneth (Rachel) Vaughn, and a deeply cherished grandfather to Lindsay (Aaron) Vaughn-Hintz and Keegan Vaughn and his fiancée, Lauren Leroux. His family was the great joy of his life, and his legacy will live on through them.
