Mr. Larry Crowley Green passed away on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 in Gainesville, Georgia due to a short illness. He was born on April 13, 1947 in Atlanta, GA to the late Frances and Rev. H. Oscar Green.
Mr. Green is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Frances Deadwyler Green in July 2025 and by his parents.
Larry graduated from Cross Keys High School in Atlanta. He then went to Georgia State University where he earned his degree in Business Administration. He proudly served his country as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He received his wings at Ft. Rucker, AL. He then went on to be a locomotive engineer with CSX Transportation and retired. He was a faithful member of Highlands Global Methodist Church in Gainesville, GA where he taught Bible study. He and his late wife loved to travel and did a lot of missionary work around the world. He was a member of Georgia Foothills Walk to Emmaus, a Christian based organization. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America (Scouting America) earning the Silver Beaver Award, the highest council recognition for adult volunteer leaders who have provided distinguished services to the youth
He is survived by his son Jason Hamilton Green and grandson Trent Masterson Green of Gainesville, GA, sister Kathryn Green Lance and nephew Clint Lance of Griffin, GA, sister- and brothers-in-law Suzanne Fikes (Ken) of DeLand, Florida and James Eugene Deadwyler of St. Augustine, Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Highlands Global Methodist Church, 3678 Cleveland Highway, Gainesville, GA 30506.
