Lavonne Venable

Lavonne Venable, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 26, 1938, she was the beloved daughter of John Winston Seay and Lela Anderson Seay.

On December 5, 1959, Lavonne married the love of her life, William “Bill” Venable, and together they built a beautiful marriage rooted in faith, love, and unwavering devotion. Their life together was filled with adventure as they traveled to all 50 states alongside treasured friends and created memories that lasted a lifetime. One of the most meaningful moments of her life was traveling to the Holy Land, where she was baptized in the Jordan River—a testament to the deep faith that guided her throughout her life.

Lavonne worked for many years as an assembly worker at Reliance Electric, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

A faithful member of McEver Road United Methodist Church, Lavonne lived her life with quiet strength, compassion, and an unshakable trust in God. Her faith was evident not only in her words but in the way she loved and cared for those around her.

Above all else, Lavonne cherished her family. She loved them fearlessly and unconditionally, always placing them at the center of her life. Her kindness, wisdom, and steadfast love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

She also treasured the lifelong friendships she shared with Burl and Ann Jones, Julian and Edith Dove, and Ray and Barbara Shubert. Together they traveled, laughed, and created countless cherished memories that became some of life’s greatest blessings.

Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents, John Winston Seay and Lela Anderson Seay; her parents-in-law, R.S. Venable and Leah Kinsey Venable; and her beloved dog, Max, whose faithful companionship brought her immeasurable joy.

She is survived by her devoted husband, William “Bill” Venable; her daughter, Tracey Wimpy (Jeff); her beloved grandchildren, Andrew Lathem (Amy) and Zackary Lathem (Allie); her treasured great-grandchildren, Adrian Lathem, Noah Lathem, and Barrett Lathem; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort knowing that Lavonne’s faith has become sight and that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Her greatest joy was serving the Lord, loving her family, and making a lifetime of memories with those she held dear. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and quiet strength that will continue to guide and inspire generations to come. While she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the promise that they will see her again.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
