Linda Strickland Obituary

Linda Bell "Poppy" Honea Strickland, 80, born February 15, 1945, passed away on December 31, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David Scott Strickland; mother, Ethel Thomas Garrison; and step-father, Erford Garrison. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Tina Cannon; grandson, Carter Cannon; brother, Bradley (wife Susan) Honea; sister, Carolyn Martin; sisters-in-law Gloria Davidson and Linda (husband Joe) Seago; brother-in-law Bradley Strickland; and dearest cousins and nephews. Her family also includes step-children Kelly (wife Melinda) Strickland, Stacey (husband Daniel) Manning, Cathy White, and Cindy (husband Chris) Thompson, along with nine step-grandchildren.

Linda was known throughout her life as a dedicated hard worker, someone who poured her whole heart into everything she did. Her kitchen was the center of countless memories—she was a wonderful cook and baker, and her holiday meals will truly be missed. She arranged holiday celebrations year after year and created traditions that will be continued fondly in her memory. Her sense of humor, warmth, and steady presence made her a source of comfort and joy to those who knew her. She was also gifted with a remarkable talent in sewing, creating beautiful pieces stitched with patience, skill, and love.

A devoted Christian, she drew strength from her faith and demonstrated that every day. She loved her church family dearly and found purpose and fellowship with her congregation. One of Linda's greatest gifts surfaced in her retirement years; instead of retiring and relaxing, she began working with the elderly. This came naturally to her, and her clients loved her for her compassion, expertise, and humor. She quickly became an honorary family member with each client. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the love she gave so freely.
