Lois “Rosey” Rizoli Forry – Teacher, linguist, singer, and supreme optimist – died on October 25, 2025 in Gainesville, GA at age 88 of complications from cancer.
Born in Salem, MA on March 25, 1937 to Louis and Theresa Rizoli, she graduated from Emmanuel College. She married Joseph Forry in 1963. His work brought them to London, England, Oslo, Norway and Port of Spain, Trinidad. While abroad, they had two children, Maria and Catherine Elizabeth. After ten years overseas, they settled in McLean, VA, where Lois picked up her career teaching high school French and Spanish. She was awarded Teacher of the Year one year. In 2004, Joe and Lois moved to north Georgia to be near their six grandchildren. Lois found a whole new group of friends in Gainesville, many related to Joe’s music, while she also continued to maintain close friendships with many friends from Virginia and other close friends since her childhood.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughters Mria Dangerfield of Atlanta, GA, and Elizabeth Forry Triplett of Barrow County, GA; son-in-law Michael Dangerfield; grandchildren Lena, Blake and Evan Dangerfield, and Andrew, Natalie and Victor Triplett; granddaughter-in-law Makaya Miller and great granddaughter Azélia Miller; brother-in-law Edward Forry of Boston, MA and sister-in-law Mary Tanner of Andover, MA; many nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe in 2020 after 57 years of marriage, also by her parents, her brother-in-law John Forry, and her sister-in-law Eleanor McManus.
Lois was a devout Catholic and was a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Gainesville. She loved God, her family and her friends. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Lanier Village Estates Chapel, located at 4000 Village View Drive, Gainesville, GA 30506.
