Lynn Creese Russell

Mrs. Lynn Creese Russell, age 75 of Flowery Branch, Georgia, went to be with her Savior on Monday, April 20, 2026 while in the loving care of her family and the wonderful staff of Agape Hospice and the Landing of Winder in Georgia.

She was born May 23, 1950, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, the oldest of 5 children, to the late Robert W. Creese and Gwendolyn N. Thompson. At the age of 14, the family moved to AL, settling in Center Point, where she attended Erwin High School and met the young man who would be her future husband. The family moved to Delaware in her senior year where she would then graduate from Newark High School. She went on to earn her nursing degree through the diploma program of Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Alabama. The day after her nursing school graduation, she married the love of her life, Carl Gordon Russell, on September 12, 1970. Together, they would go on to have two daughter, Kirsten “Kiri” and Kelley. While raising her girls and homeschooling them, she worked evening or night shifts, delivering loving, compassionate care to the sickest of babies in the NICU, serving exclusively in the Baptist Health System’s hospitals, and eventually retiring from Shelby Baptist Medical Center in 2015. After retirement, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and especially being “Grammy” to her nine grandchildren. While spending time with them, she shared her love for baking homemade treats (especially Christmas cookies), played games, stitched up stuff animal and baby doll “wounds”, or simply watched the grandkids play. She loved amusing them with folk songs like “Old Dan Tucker” and enjoyed the giggles that came from singing the lyrics to “Mr. Ed”. The Irish lullaby, “Toolaroo”, which means “goodbye for now” or “see you later”, was a sweet “Grammy song” at nap time. She will be remembered for her smile and consistently light and pleasant spirit. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carl; daughters “Kiri” (Joe) Kelly, and Kelley (Mike) Johnson; cherished grandchildren Rebekah, Bennett, Abigail, and Miriam “Mimi” Kelly and Isabella (fiancé Noah), Emma Kate, Sawyer, Elijah, and Campbell Johnson; sister Becky (Bill) Beirne and three brothers Dennis, Rick (Nancy), and Gary (Kathy) Creese; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 24, 2026 at Memorial Park South Chapel with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Pastor Mark Liddle will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
