Mrs. Mae Dell Varner, 78, of Gainesville, passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on Monday, March 30, 2026, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Varner was born on December 16, 1947, in Gainesville, GA, to the late Charlie Williams and Christine Elizabeth Moon. She was a devoted member of Rucker Memorial Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a minister for 14 years.
Mrs. Varner served for 45 years with the Social Security Administration in Gainesville, GA. She devoted her life to serving those in need of an advocate. Whether at work, in church, or among friends and family, Mrs. Varner was a compassionate listener, inspiring teacher, and faithful prayer warrior to everyone she encountered.
A funeral service will be held at Rucker Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 12:00 PM. Reverend Donald McDuffie will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Lula, GA.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Varner is preceded in death by her loving husband Daniel Varner. Mrs. Varner is survived by her son, Kelly Vernes Randolph of Gainesville; her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Christopher Varner and Jean Lee Varner of Gainesville; her grandson, Jordan Alexander Randolph of Gainesville; her grandson, Daniel Christopher Varner, Jr. of Gainesville; her grandson, Charlie Maclay Varner of Gainesville; and a number of other relatives.
