On December 22, 2025, Mary Lou Brown of Hampton, VA transitioned to her eternal home and peace in the presence of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Brown was born on October 30, 1935, in Gainesville, GA to the late Henry and Marian Christian and was widowed by her childhood sweetheart, the Retired Col. Maynard Brown, Jr. Mrs. Brown retired from the Hampton Public School System where she worked as a paraprofessional for 46 years. She was a faithful member of the Centurion Interdenominational Church at Fort Monroe, VA.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Marian Christian, brother Charles (Carolyn) Christian, husband Maynard Brown Jr., daughter Paula Renee Brown and son Mark Edwin Brown.
Mary is survived by her son Maynard Brown III, siblings: Brenda Cheek, Willie James (Bill) Christian, Eddie Dean (Kaye) Christian, Julie (Roderick) Christian-Morris. Grand-children: Eric L. (Maya) Gorham, Lyndsay Renee Brown, Mayah Janielle Brown, Desiree M. Brown and Tobias O. Brown, special daughter Bonnie Henderson and grandkids Jasmine and Jessica Henderson. And three great-grandchildren Emerii, Bryson and Shiya. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. And a special friend Mrs. Angie Wright.
The family will have a Homegoing Celebration of Life for their beloved mother, sister, and grandmother at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 12:00 PM. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
