Mary Hall Obituary

Mary Alice “Marty” Hall, 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, at Phoenix Senior Living in Braselton due to complications related to dementia. Born on January 10, 1943, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Henry Allen and Alice Claiborne Barnhardt, Marty grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Memphis, Tennessee. While residing in Memphis, she attended and graduated from Frayser High School, where she met her future husband, William Russell Hall, Jr. The high school sweethearts exchanged vows on November 29, 1963.

Marty is most fondly remembered for her unwavering love for her church and, above all, her family and friends.

From the time Marty and Russ moved to Georgia in 1967, Marty was passionately involved in churches everywhere they lived, including 1st Presbyterian in Marietta, Georgia; Duluth United Methodist in Duluth, Georgia; Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, where she was a charter member; and most recently, Buford Presbyterian Church. Throughout her years of service, Marty dedicated herself to teaching Sunday school, serving as an ordained elder, and actively participating in Presbyterian Women’s Circles.

Marty’s career spanned a diverse range of experiences. She managed The Packing House restaurant in St. Joseph, Missouri; worked as a sales representative for Financial Suppliers Inc. of Duluth; managed the merchant services division for Discover Card’s Atlanta Region; and served as a property manager for Melaver Properties. Wherever Marty worked, she was cherished as a valued co-worker and known for her dedication to her colleagues.

In her free time, Marty had a passion for cooking and was renowned for making delectable meals for her family and any friends who visited her home. Additionally, she enjoyed sewing and diligently crafted numerous garments and curtains for her loved ones over the years.

Marty is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William Russell Hall, Jr. She is survived by her three brothers: Henry and Linda Barnhardt of Germantown, TN; Allen and Betty Barnhardt of Hot Springs Village, AK; and Ed and Dee Barnhardt of Portersville, MS. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Ken Johnson, of Hoschton, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Jud Hall and Cindy Bryant, of Nashville, TN; her son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Hilary Hall, of Mint Hill, NC; her grandson and his wife, Mark and Leah Johnson, of Carrollton, GA; her grandson and his wife, Kyle and Amanda Johnson, of Cumming, GA; her granddaughter, Madison Hall, of Ellijay, GA; her grandsons, Austin and Grady Hall, of Mint Hill, NC; and her great-granddaughters, Everleigh and Ellie Johnson, of Carrollton, GA.
