Mr. Melvin Decker Lake, 97, of Flowery Branch, GA, passed away Saturday, February 7.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 27, at 11:30 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch. Father Ignacio Morales will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Lake was born October 31, 1928. He was a US Army veteran and WWII Victory Medal recipient.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Zenda Hanrahan Lake, daughter in law, Valerie Bayley Lake, and great grandson, Matthew Berger.
He is survived by Doug Lake, Robert and Josephine Lake, Barbara and Rick Bailey, Matt and Robin Lake, Marty Lake, Rich and Donna Lake, Anne and Chuck Berger, Therese and Bill Sharry.
Mel’s legacy includes his 18 grandchildren, Jess, Chris, Julia, Tim, Nick, James, Jill, Dayna, Greg, Katie, Jen, Tom, Joe, Kevin, Kyle, Erin, Alex, and Ryan.
He also leaves behind 14 great grandchildren Jeremy, Brianna, Chase, Blake, Jack, Sadie, Carter, Clayton, Aiden, Emilia, Scarlett, Kiera, Theo, and Penny.
