Opaline (Opal) Wetherford Seabolt of Gainesville, GA died on March 7, 2026, at the age of 90.
Opal was born on July 27, 1935, in Gainesville to the late Omie Smallwood Wetherford and Lewis M. Wetherford. She grew up in Hall County, graduated from Lyman Hall High School, and worked various jobs in the food and textile industries around Gainesville.
Opal married George Ovin Seabolt of Blairsville, Georgia on June 27, 1953. Opal was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her various jobs, she enjoyed reading, crafting, gardening, taking care of her pets, and cooking and baking. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she taught the Primary Children’s Sunday School class and was a member of the choir. She retired from Warren Featherbone in 2005, after many years of service.
Opal was widowed in 1996 after more than 41 years of marriage to Ovin.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Ovin; her daughter, Teri Karen Seabolt; and sister, Faye Freeland. She is survived by her children, Jackie Allen, Round Rock, Texas; Michael Seabolt, Atlanta, Georgia; Nancy Nash, Bremen, Georgia; grandchildren Christopher Allen and Brian Allen, both of Round Rock, Texas; Teri Tarbush and Barry Nash, Jr. both of Bremen, Georgia, three great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Rheba Buffington, Gillsville, Georgia and Thelma Tweedell, Gainesville, Georgia.
Services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm; with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the chapel.
