Rev. Billy Ray King, age 86, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was born to the late Benjamin A. King and Bannie Ledford King on March 20, 1939 in Andrews, North Carolina. Rev. King retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. After retirement he went into the ministry, where he attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute Rev. King also completed a two-year course with Liberty University. Once finishing Liberty University, he pastored several churches in Georgia.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Reverend Danny Jones will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Rev. King is preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ann King of Gainesville, daughters, Dianne Avery (Joe) of Dawsonville, Sylvia Anderson of Cumming; grandchildren, Nicole Damron (Daniel) of Dawsonville, Kyle Avery of Dahlonega, Richard Anderson (Mesha) of Cumming; great-grandchildren, Reece, Luke, Annalee, and Eli Damron, Anakin and Amarylls Avery, and Shane Anderson.
