Richard Rubio Obituary

Our beloved Richard John Rubio passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on March 2, 2024 at the age of 67. He was a kidney cancer survivor and lost a courageous battle against Glioblastoma.

He was born in Bayshore, New York on September 14, 1956. Richard met the love of his life, Carol, at 15 on Lake Ronkonkoma and they married 8 years later in 1980. It was love at first sight.

He worked as a supervisor for a construction company in New York until he moved to Georgia in 1982. He eventually started his own business, Rubio and Son Interiors, Inc. where his motto is “We make it happen.” It was and currently is a family run business. Richard enjoyed every aspect of being a general contractor. He was admired by many in his profession.

Richard provided a wonderful life for his family. He had an amazing mind and  heart and was ready to help anyone in need. Richard had a strong faith in his Lord which guided him in all aspects of his life.  He was an amazing planner and thinker and this guided his decisions at work and home with his family.  He loved traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed playing cards, croquet (which he always won!), boating on Lake Lanier, spending time at the beach and most importantly spending time with his family.  He was our ROCK and will be missed immensely.

He leaves behind his wife, Carol and children, Nichole and Wade Martin; Nicholas and Ashley Rubio; Victoria “Doll” and Rob Meeks. He was “Papabella” to Caroline Martin, Catie Mae Martin, Bo Meeks and Rowan and Hayes Rubio.  He is survived by his mother, Mary Rubio, brothers and sisters,  and other loving family members.  He is preceded in death by his father Edward Rubio Sr.
