Mr. Richard Samuel Rylee, age 89, of Gillsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, October 6, 2025.
He was born on October 28, 1935, to the late Joseph Samuel and Susie Mae (Griffin) Rylee. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hellen Marie (Sorrells) Rylee; brothers, Joe Rylee, Olin Rylee, and Jerry Rylee.
Left to cherish his wonderful memories, sons, Wayne Rylee, Charles (Jill) Rylee of Gillsville; daughter, Rhonda (Chris) Pittman, son, Randall (Rita) Rylee of Clermont; and son, Matthew (Sylvia) Rylee of Lula; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Rylee, Danny Rylee and a sister, Mattie Marinos and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard lived a wonderful life alongside his loving wife of 50 years. He also cherished his role as father, grandfather “Pa” and great-grandfather. His greatest treasure was his family, and nothing made his happier than riding the North Georgia mountain roads looking for a fishing hole to spend time with them and he never missed a ballgame. He was a farmer and drove the school bus for 40 plus years for Hall County schools, while mentoring and encouraging those who rode his bus. Dad never met a stranger and usually made a new friend wherever he went.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Celebration of Life Funeral will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Reverend Rhett Rylee, Matt Rylee and Reverend Darryl Womack. Richard will be laid to rest at Lebanon Methodist Church.
