Robert Sherman Campbell passed away peacefully March 10, 2026 surrounded by family. He was 84 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Mildred Campbell, his wife Paula (Heilig) Campbell and his sisters Kay Jones, Dottie Whitten, and Patricia Dinda. He is survived by his children, Robert “Bobby” Campbell, Paul Campbell and Kimberlee (Campbell) Handl and their spouses Elizabeth, Angela and Tracy. He is also survived by his “boys” aka his cats Blue and Scout.
Robert was born in 1941 in Donora, Pennsylvania to Sherman and Mildred (Bell) Campbell. As a baby he earned the nickname Buzzy while in his crib “buzzing away”. The family relocated to Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania during the construction of steel mill and new neighborhoods designed to house the mill workers.
Buzzy attended Pennsbury Schools and quickly excelled as an athlete. He was a decorated swimmer and diver. His love of the water led him to his job at the Fairless Hills Pool where he met his future bride Paula. It was said that Paula and her friends made sure to position themselves in Buzzy’s line-of-sight to make sure they were seen. It worked and Buzzy and Paula became a couple.
Buzzy and Paula married and remained in Fairless Hills and the surrounding area purchasing a home and raising a family. They were both active members of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church and active in the community.
Buzzy was a Veteran in the United States Air Force having served stateside during the Vietnam War.
Buzzy was employed by Stauffer Chemical in Morrisville, Pennsylvania for 27 years. He attended Bucks County Community College studying Chemistry. After retirement from Stauffer and a move to Georgia in 1988, Buzzy was employed by Shasta Beverages and later Sears and Roebuck Corporation.
Buzzy was an avid camping enthusiast along with his wife Paula. Most vacations included the beach and an amusement park because Buzzy was also a roller coaster fanatic. After retirement, Buzzy and Paula began to enjoy cruising which allowed him to nap and eat as much as he wanted. And as the family aged, the cruises became group events with so many special memories made.
Buzzy loved his grandkids, Joshua, Shelby, Sarah and Steven. From birth to adulthood, the grandkids were included on every camping trip and vacation. His love of the water and amusement parks was passed down to them.
In keeping with his wishes, Buzzy was cremated and his ashes will be interred with his wife Paula. The family would like to thank Inspire Hospice for their phenomenal care and support.
Interment is scheduled for May 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park South Cemetery located at 4121 Falcon Pkwy, Flowery Branch, GA 30542
