Robert Hollifield Obituary

Mr. Robert Dennis Hollifield, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was born to the late Robert Porter and Blanche Cole Hollifield on June 3, 1947 in Hildreth, Nebraska.

He was a 1965 graduate of Gainesville High School; he continued his education at North Georgia College where he earned a degree in Psychology. His passion for learning and professional growth later took him to Virginia Banking School, where he earned a degree in Finance. A foundation that served him well throughout his distinguished 35-year career in the banking industry. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War, carrying the values of discipline and service throughout his life. That commitment to service extended to his spiritual life as well; he was a deeply committed church member and served faithfully as a Deacon, offering his time and wisdom for 32 years at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia. He was most at home in nature as an avid outdoorsman, where he found great joy in the patience of fishing and challenges of hunting. On Saturdays in the fall, there was no doubt where his loyalties lay—he was a passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, always ready to cheer them on to victory.

His legacy of hard work, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM. Dr. Tyler Smiley and Dr. Tom Smiley will officiate the service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
