Robert Michael Koon, 78, Passed away peacefully on Monday the 9th March 2026, at Northeast Georga Regional Hospital Gainesville. By Mike’s side was his wife Nancy of 55 years, his younger brother Greg + and his Priest Rev. Fr. Dr. Robert E. Powers +. Mike was born on 5th of March in the year of or Lord 1948 in Knoxville, TN To; Robert E. Koon Jr. and Betty Anne Koon.

A requiem mass will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Catholic Church, 1750 Thompson Bridge Rd., Gainesville, GA 30501. A visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

Mike is survived by his wife Nancy his 2 brothers Rick and Greg and several nephews, cousins, and In-Laws. 

Mike lived and worked in Lula, Ga for 30+ years. He grew up in S. Florida with his Family. He was in the first graduating class of Nova High School. He studied aeronautic in the late 1960’s at NE Louisiana State University He was a private pilot with an instrument rating. Mike was also a PADI Divemaster. He starting his career with Bell South Telephone Co. in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1970. Mike attended nearly every training school in Bell Telephone through his career. When he and his wife Nancy moved to Gainesville his main job at that time was cable repair.

Mike was an active founding member of St. Fransis of Assisi Anglican Church here in Gainesville. He served as the Rectors Warden on the vestry and as the head acolyte. Mike was devoted to the parish and its members from the beginning of the parish.

Mike has many friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. He was very good at catching! Many of his friends and family will miss their outings together with Mike. In lieu of Flowers please donate to St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church Gainesville.

May he rest in the sleep of peace in a place of light and refreshment. Amen!
