Mr. Robert “Rebel” Eugene DeWitt, age 67, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2026, in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at White Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. Jason Flanagan will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Born November 19, 1958, in Pekin, Illinois, Mr. DeWitt was the son of Ray DeWitt, Jr. and Lois Hoyle Brown. He worked as a contractor for many years and was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and love for his family and friends. Robert, affectionately known as “Rebel,” never met a stranger and will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
Mr. DeWitt is survived by his mother, Lois Brown; his wife, Benita Alexander Paulk-DeWitt; son, Chris Jones (Destiny); daughter, Amy & Jason Flanagan; stepdaughters, Sabrina Bruce (Dan), and Lena Paulk (Jackie); grandchildren, Patience Rodgers (Jerrod), Will Broome, Serenity Bass (Luke), Katie Broome, Gabriel Weaver, Micah Flanagan and Teagan Flanagan; along with a host of extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray DeWitt, Jr., and his wife, Susan DeWitt.
