Roberta Beatrice Roberts Watkins Gailey

Mrs. Roberta Beatrice Roberts Watkins Gailey, age 92, of Gillsville, went to be with Jesus on October 6, 2025.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gailey was born on August 3, 1933 in Homer, GA to the late Enoch Buffington Roberts and Ella Carlee Scott Roberts. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She worked in the lunchroom at Gillsville School for many years. Later on, she went to work and retired from Mrs. Winner's in Gainesville where she was known as the "hostess with the mostest". She was dearly loved by so many customers, who would come just to see her. She was always ready to laugh and joke with anyone. She loved Jesus and loved to sing and play hymns, whether it was at home, at church in the choir, with a gospel quartet in her earlier years or with several other dear friends. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Nanny.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Parris Jewell Watkins; brothers Fred, Corbett, Howard, Robert, Grady, Ted, Frank and Leco Roberts; sisters Novis Craig, Ruby Edge and Ruth Strickland Bray; grandson Benjamin Lenderman and second husband Leon Gailey.

She is survived by her children, Mickey (Wanda) Watkins of Cornelia and Kathy Sullivan of Gillsville; grandchildren Tina (Tim) Simmons of Hollingsworth, Misty Watkins of Cleveland, CJ Watkins of Carnesville and Lisa Lewis of Maysville; also a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
