Roslyn Elaine Reed (Ritch), also known as “Waddie” and “Dodie,” age 87, of Gainesville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday morning, January 8, 2026, at Gardens of Gainesville, where she resided.
Born on January 5, 1939, in Gainesville, Roslyn was the daughter of Ormond Eugene Ritch of Anniston, Alabama, and Grace Eunice Gowan of Lavonia, Georgia. Both were longtime residents of Gainesville, Georgia.
Known for her sense of humor and love of singing, music, and bargain shopping, Roslyn also loved food, going out to restaurants, and dessert was her favorite. You knew she truly enjoyed something when she said, “That’s good!” Roslyn deeply loved her family and her beloved dog, Cokie. She spent 30 enjoyable years working for Southern Company as a Public Relations Specialist and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Gainesville.
Roslyn is survived by her sons, Larry Todd Parker and his wife, Tammy, of Lula, and Anthony “Tony” Parker and his partner Mary Beth Akins, of Gainesville; her sister, Jean Richardson of Illinois; and her grandchildren, Daniel Head, Amanda Parker, Kayla Parker, and Gracie Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Eloise Clark, Eleta Stowers, and Lula Robinson; her husbands, R.D. Head, Larry Parker, and Bobby Reed, all of Gainesville; and her children, David Head and Heather Parker.
The viewing for friends and family will be held on Sunday, January 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Memorial Park (Main Location) in Gainesville. Roslyn will be buried at Alta Vista Cemetery next to her daughter, Heather.
