Shirley Jean (Dougherty) Robinson

Mrs. Shirley Jean Dougherty Robinson, 87, of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Dr. Tom Smiley, Dr. Tyler Smiley and Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 14th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Born on March 7, 1936 in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Evalou Grant Dougherty. Mrs. Robinson was retired from Millie’s Drapery and a faithful member of Lakewood Baptist Church. She loved Jesus with her whole heart. Prayer was her foundation for everything.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her husband, William “Jim” Robinson and brothers, Wiley James Dougherty, Billy Jewell Dougherty and sister in law, Brenda Dougherty.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Robin and Robin Callahan of Gainesville, Rhonda and Jeff Gaffney of Simpsonville, S.C; granddaughter and husband, Victoria and Matt Bouy of Savannah; grandson, Brooks Callahan of Gainesville; grandson, Jacob Gaffney of Elkhart, IN; great granddaughter, Leilah Jean Bouy; sister, Thelma Russell of Gainesville; sister and brother in law, Brenda and Sammy Harris of Gainesville; brother and sister in law, David and Martha Dougherty of Gainesville; brother Donald Dougherty of Gainesville; sister in law, Mildred Dougherty of Gainesville and a number of other loving relatives.
